The Chamber
of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore is a community organization endeavoring to
undertake programs and projects designed to improve and preserve the best
interest and welfare of the total community. Its primary function and overriding
concern is to lead the way for the betterment of the business community, serving
the commercial, industrial and professional interests which strengthen its
economic base.
Membership in
the Chamber of Commerce is open to all businesses, professionals and residents
of Bay Shore-Brightwaters. Some of the many services we provide are:
- Providing
information for new businesses and residents
- Handling inquiries
on potential relocations
- Conducting
special community-wide events and promotional efforts
- Serving as
liaison among the various segments of the business community
- Continuing
efforts to maintain and beautify the town's business and residential areas
- Review of
governmental legislation that affects the interests of business and residents
- Developing
and maintaining a profile of Bay Shore's businesses
The Chamber of
Commerce of Greater Bay Shore invites all businesses and residents to become
members and participate in its committees and programs. Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of every other month at 7 p.m. at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Library as shown on events schedule.

- Production
of the new Bay Shore-Brightwaters Street Map and Travel Guide with 15,000-piece
printing.
- Securing of
over $75,000 from Suffolk County for the refurbishing and beautification
of the walkways between Main Street stores.
- Continual
efforts to develop "showcase" shopping centers at Gardiner Manor
Mall, Kohl's Department Store Plaza on Saxon Ave. and Westfield Shoppingtown
South Shore.
- Refurbishing
of the Bay Shore Railroad Station with new landscaping and beautification
efforts, new paving, better lighting, improved safety measures and maintenance.
- Collaboration
with the MTA Police Department and Suffolk County Police Department to open
a joint police substation at the railroad station.
- "South
Wind Village" has been completed on Smith Avenue. The development has
52 town houses and 26 rentals.
- Ongoing assistance
to the many new businesses opening in the downtown area. Efforts include
refurbishing and restoration of storefronts and buildings, grand opening
celebrations and promotional activities.
- Completion
of a high-tech business incubator on the corner of Smith Ave. and Main Street,
built with a $1.8 million EDA Grant.
- The Chamber
has coordinated:The highly successful "Summertime in the
Park" Concert Series held at the Main Street Band Shell throughout
July and August. The "Cross Bay Swim", an
important Bay Shore historical event, held in August, with 30 swimmers going
a distance of six miles to cross the Great South Bay. The very popular Entenmann's
Great South Bay Run held in October with more than 1,500 runners.
The Winter Festival, a holiday tradition held on the first
Sunday of December at Dr. George S. King Park with music, treats and visits
from Santa and Frosty. "An Arts Festival by the Bay... Bay Shore
Lights the Way", a performing arts extravaganza held in June.
